End of Budget crisis

There is no incentive to work in VCD other than getting paid for it. Long, extensive investigations, long hours, call outs, sometimes working around the clock. You start telling those guys they can't get paid and who the hell would wanna work there. Many ways to skin a cat and cutting OT for those guys isn't one of them.

no way, 40 detectives are needed on those scenes!

Cut VCD overtime!!...good then no more call outs and the investigation stops when the clock strikes 8-hours...the B C can work all the rotten S/7's, police shootings, homicides, suicides, shootings, stabbings and overdoses and go to the autopsys; and then write the search warrants, subpoenas and court orders, and put toghether the long term investigation on the 6-month slacked work schedule on the road, but you can't put in for OT jack arse bean counter...And most of all don't forget the front office capers to work in-between all the other investigations...Most of the VCD detectives would have no problem going right back into a green and white and look at it as a break...you obviously are as green as your uniform with experience...when you get more experience you'll find that the road is the easiest job you'll ever have...since you don't want the detectives paid OT, don't call them out and work it up yourself...Yeah work it by yourself just like the detectives do...Bean counter is the type of deputy that sees a lot of blood and hears the trauma hawk coming and stops everything and doesn't investigate any further until he can dump the call on a detective or he's the type that sees a little skin slippage and blood purge on a 65+ year old and freezes up again and shouts for the detectives; doesn't even try to call a doctor to sign...Bean counter...do yourself a favor grow up, get a few fights under your belt and suck it up like a man and stop whining like a child that dropped his ice cream cone...

I couldn't have said that better myself! If the road deputies would become investigators and not secretaries on wheels, VCD probably wouldn't have to be called out so much.

The shifts are the issue. If you catch a 5, police involved or anything where you have immediate leads to follow up, you're working OT whether you want to or not. You can't pass off a case to another squad.
