Miami-Dade police sergeant charged in death of K-9

Investigators from the Miami-Dade Police Department announced Wednesday the arrest of Sergeant Allen ****field, a 27-year veteran of the department, in connection with the death of a police dog.
Here is what investigators said took place on June 7, 2006 at around 6:30 p.m.:
****field, 52, kicked Police K-9 'Duke' numerous times causing the dog to expire during an exercise held at the training bureau, located on the 9600 block of N.W. 58 Street.
****field faces one charge of offense against a police dog and one charge of cruelty to animals.
The officer has been relieved of duty since the onset of this investigation.
After the case was reviewed by the State Attorney's Office, an arrest warrant was issued. ****field surrendered Wednesday afternoon to investigators at the Turner-Gilford Knight Correctional Center where he was booked.
