Australian Avenue closures

LocalLinks

will detour motorists 2 nights

The southbound Interstate 95 overpass at Australian will be closed for demolition beginning at 9 p.m. today until 5 a.m. Monday.

The northbound I-95 overpass at Australian will close beginning at 9 p.m. Monday, so construction crews can demolish that part of the bridge. Australian will reopen at 5 a.m. Tuesday.

Drivers can use Okeechobee Boulevard to Congress or Parker avenues or Belvedere Road to Congress or Parker avenues to get around construction.

Mail carriers collect

400,137 pounds of food

The National Association of Letter Carrier's annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive on May 12 collected 400,137 pounds of food in Palm Beach County.

Residents were asked to donated nonperishable canned goods and leave them by their mailbox. Local mail carriers picked up the food to distribute to food pantries and soup kitchens because donations typically are low this time of year.

This is the 15th year of the food drive. Mail carriers around the United States participate in the country's largest one-day food drive. More than 200 volunteers worked at local post offices to move food out.

P's joke. Maybe he finally realized he wasn't going to get any support from here. Thank God he hasn't been around lately.
