Deleting Posts:

Deleting a post is not always an easy decision to make. For most (99%), the reason why a post was deleted is this; “Messages (anonymous or not) accusing anyone (including political candidates) of wrong doing (and/or criminal accusations) without substantial proof or reference are subject to deletion”. There are ways to say what you want to say without violating this part of the “Use of Terms” agreement.

Viewing other boards, I have seen some pretty crafty ways to get your point across without actually saying someone’s name and what you believe they actually did. This leaves the reader to read between the lines. Those who are familiar with the story will all know exactly what you mean and the public viewing this form or others without knowledge of your story will not. Thus, it is an inference not an accusation.

Registering a Screen Name:

This brings me to another important point. Users who register have many benefits. Too many to mention but here are a few key benefits:

1. You can now edit or delete your own post. (Ever hit the “Submit Button” only then wishing you could go back? Now you can)

2. You can send a Private Message to another user

3. You add more weight to your statements because everyone knows it is not an imposter using your screen name

4. Emailing to fellow users

5. Avatar Images

6. User Group Subscriptions

7. For borderline violations of terms, I may not delete your entire post; instead send you a message asking you to edit your own post removing the single item to allow your post to stand.

Registration is not required but it is fast, simple, still guarantees anonymity and offers you many more features to enjoy the site. In any case, thanks to all of the users for making the Collier message board a success. Feel free to contact me if there is anything we can do to make your message board more enjoyable.

Being registered is the way to go!! I now get private messages from others and enjoy the fact that I can edit my post after I have hit the submit button. I should have registered years ago!

Now if I could just figure out this avatar thing...

Keep up the good work Mod167

Getting an avatar is easy, really. You can "google" the word avatar. Find a pic you like and right click it. copy the http. Go to your profile page on this site and paste the http into the part of your profile that says "link to off-site URL"

the pic has to meet some minimum pixel requirements and if it does it will work, otherwise keep searching pics that meet the pixel requirements til you find one that works.

Avatars need to be no larger than 100X100 pixels and no more than 600000 bytes.

Some sites won't let you link to there site. In that case, you can get a free photobucket.com account copy it to there. Then you can link to there.

You are welcome. Just one thing about the photobucket account. If you want to remain anonymous, make sure you use an anonymous name on photo bucket.
