I'm a detective with the SFSD, but my wife wants us to move to TN so she can be closer to her family. Obviously, this would greatly affect my career, and rather than going through the bureaucratic hoops, I'm wondering if any of you can help me with quick general answers
Is it difficult to transfer to a department in another city, especially in a different state, where I've barely been? If I pass certain requirements, can I join the police as a detective, or do I have to go back to being a patrol officer for awhile?
I'm in my late 30s, and I haven't been in uniform for a long time. I'd really rather not go back to being a patrol officer
