Why get hurt when dealing with a violent subject. Tasers work, they do the job and keep officers and the violator safe.

Why wresstle and fight someone these days as an officer when the tasser is available? The pepper spray, asp, spear move, and the cobra strike do not even compare. All other surrounding agencies have tassers. Why spend so much money on semi-auto rifles?,......and even more money to put good sites on them? Not to mention there was an entire rack of perfectly functional M16's already purchased if they were needed.

As far as I know the shotguns carried in the cars at USF have never even been deployed once on the USF campus. I say spend the money on what can really be used. On average, and probably more than average; there has been, and probably will be, a lot more if incidents of hands on, "fighting situations" then there will be a need for semi-auto riles.

Semi-auto weapons on the campus can get approved, but not Tassers?
