as a 20 year old police officer, does one need to get soemone 21 or older to register for their firearm? Or can one just get a letter from the dept thats hiring them saying "yea hes a police officer you can sell to him without registering somone 21 or older?" I read FSS 790.051 but im not sure its relevant. Thanks

I think you only need to be 18 to buy your firearm but 21 to buy the bullets. The PD should give you the bullets for free.

If you're under the age of 21, you can not buy a firearm ( AT ALL IN THE STATE OF FLORIDA ). You need someone 21 or older to buy your gun for you. FDLE does a background check on the buyer prior to issuing the firearm, It normally take 5 business days to complete.

In other words, the person over 21 that buys the gun can then give it to the under age Ofc.

This happens everyday.
