Can anyone fill me in, on the hours you work and shifts? I'm thinking of
transfering up your way and would appreciate any info you could give me.
Thanks, fellow deputy!

1st shift/6A-6P, 2nd shift 2P-2A, 3rd shift 6P-6A (two on, two off, sliding weekends). There is a 5A to 5P shift as well with not as many deputies on the shift to help alleviate conflict during shift change.

In the jail-our shifts are-7-3:30, 3-11:30, 11-7:30. We work on a 42.5 hr week, and are paid on an 85 hr payweek. If you come to us already certified, you have an abbreviated training period. Good Luck in your choice.

What agency do you presently work for? how far will you have to commute? how much experience do you bring with you? what kind
of money are you looking to make? do you currently come from an agency that has a Union? are you interested in working for a Union company? Shifts are done on a seniority bidding system that could lock you into certain shift and facility for quite a while, same goes for your
possible supervisors and co-workers .........just a few other things to consider!!!!!!

Thanks for the replies. I live in a ajoining county and think the 8 hour
shifts would be better. 12 are great at first, but start to kick your butt
after a few years. How do your shifts rotate, how often do you get a
weekend off? I've had experience in about all aspects of detention,
especially booking. Any info would help!

Uor days off roll back every month (28 day cycle). So if your off Fri/Sat this month, next month your off thur/Fri. We bid by seniority every six months (June/December). Thay are talking (again) about us eventually going to 12 hr shifts. Our booking Area already does 12 hr shifts.
