What guns does the MBPD use?

Hello everybody

Miami PD officers pack Glock 22s. Before that, they carried Glock 17s, and before that, Smith & Wesson Model 64s.

What guns do MBPD officers carry? (make and model please)

What did they carry before that, and the time before that as well?

Basically, I just want to know what were the standard sidearms since the late 70s. Thanks

If there are no standard sidearms, what guns are MBPD officers allowed to purchase?

No seriously, I'm a gun owner and prospective police officer. What gun I carry in the field is pretty important to me.

I'm also interested in some history. Some info on what the MBPD carries now and carried in the past would be much appreciated.

Here is a simple answer. Call our range master, Sgt. McHugh, and ask him for your answers. If you are legit then he will provide you with the information you need. If you are a phony, then he won't. It really isn't that difficult to conduct yourself within proper channels.

Yeah, and if indeed you ARE a "prospective" police officer and you are basing your decision of where to work by the firearm they carry, then you don't really know anything about what it is to be a cop and you should probably look elsewhere.

Another way is to present yourself to a po in person. Local Taxpayers pay for this equiptment and transparency is warranted. I just had a great experience in person with a Miami PD motor patrol officer. Answered all my questions on inspection of his brand new Harley Davidson. He knew this machine front and back and I enjoyed quizzing him. I was very impressed with both his knowledge and friendliness to let me stop and chat.
