low salary

I am currently a P.O. in South Florida. I was so excited when I saw the DEP was looking for law enforcement officers but then I saw the starting salary was in the mid $30Ks. This really disgusts me as that's almost impossible to live on in the state of Florida.
Am I missing something? Do salary increases and benefits add up quickly enough to make up for this?

Nope.

No salary raises and no chance for advancement.

New director may change this. We can all hope.
